Edward J. Zabrosky Sr. 94, of Loretto, died December 9, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 15, 1930, in Marstellar, PA, son of the late Walter J. and Rose (Rackovan) Zabrosky. Preceded in death by sons: Edward J. “Bud” Zabrosky and Thomas Zabrosky, infant granddaughter, Rebecca Zabrosky, and brothers: Walter Jr. and Richard. Survived by his wife of 72 years, the former Janet Lieb, whom he married December 27, 1952, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Loretto, children: James (Lee Ann) Zabrosky, Michele (Dave) Eckenrode, Robert P. (Janet) Zabrosky, Michael (Karen) Zabrosky, Lisa (Charles) Golec, and John Zabrosky, daughter-in-law, Anna Rae (Daughterty) Zabrosky, 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, his sister, Cecelia (Joseph) Presloid, his sister-in-law Carol (Sabo) Zabrosky, and numerous nieces and nephews. He earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from IUP, and taught in various schools in the area. Ed was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed attending his Army reunions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family camping trips, gardening, bee keeping, canning and making sauer kraut. Ed had served on Loretto Boro Council and was a past president. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Loretto Knights of Columbus, the Loretto American Legion, Legion of Mary, and the Basilica of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, December 16, 2024, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes and Rev. Richard Davis concelebrates. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery, Loretto. Friends will be received from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday. Military Rights will be in charge of Loretto American Legion and other Local Military Organizations.
