Don Krise, 97, of Hastings, formerly of St. Augustine, died February 22, 2023 peacefully in his sleep at home. Born May 7, 1925 in Chest Springs, son of the late Ray and Idamae (Hollen) Krise. Preceded in death by wife, Genevieve (Buck) on September 30, 1994, son-in-law, David Yackuboskey, infant grandson, Joseph Thomas Jr., infant granddaughter, Jennifer Thomas, infant great-granddaughter, Rainbow Elash, and these brothers and sisters: Sister Colman Krise R.S.M., Robert, Lewis (June), George, Verda (Tom) Britton, and James, brothers-in-law; Robert Lauer, Wib Adams, Jack Rossman, Pete Stoy, and Joe Wirfel, and special friend, Mary Hudson. Survived by daughters: Donna Krise of Hastings, Diana (Joe) Thomas, with whom Don resided in Hastings, Sue (Jim) Uhron of Youngsville, and Kathy (Doug) Reiter of Shelocta, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Leonard (Shirley) Krise of St. Augustine, Mary Jane Lauer Adams of St. Augustine, Jerry (Nancy) of Carrolltown, Jean Wirfel of St. Augustine, Joan Rossman of Hollidaysburg, Pat (Jean) Krise of Greensburg, and Tom (Grace) Krise of St. Augustine, sister-in-law, Bertha Krise of Virginia. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Don enjoyed hunting with his family in St. Augustine, and ball room dancing. He retired from the US Marines after 20 years of service in 1964, where he served during WWll in the South Pacific. He then worked 4 years for Patton Motor Sales, and 15 years as mail carrier in Patton Boro. Don retired in 1984. Don was known for keeping excellent weather records for over 35 years. He was a member of the Patton American Legion, Patton VFW, and St. Augustine Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, Rev. Jerzy Auguscik, Celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. Friends will be received from 3 until 7 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St, Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday. Military Rites will be in charge of Patton VFW and Patton American Legion.
