David Francis “Dave” Wharton, 78, Dysart, passed away July 15, 2026 at home. Born June 30,1948 in Dysart son of the late Herman and Mary (Zerbee) Wharton. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally Ann (Kozub) Wharton; children, Craig (Jennifer) Wharton and granddaughter Kiah, Stephanie Wharton, and Matthew (Jillian) Wharton and grandson Silas; and siblings, John (Phyllis) Wharton, Elizabeth “Jane” (Robert) Cypher, Sarah “Sally” (Raymond) Storm, Donna (James) Flick, Patricia (David) Seymore, Michael (Sharon) Wharton, and Mark (Sandy) Wharton. David was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was also employed as a local Union Laborer. Dave enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with family. He was a member of the Ashville VFW Post 4315 where he was a past commander, the Patton Sportsmans, Loretto Legion, and Cresson Legion. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Gibbons-Penksa Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 20th, 2026 at 11 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 803 St. Augustine Rd. Dysart, PA 16636. Fr Bob Reese, Officiating. Military Honors will be performed by local VFW. Arrangements are under the care of Gibbons-Penksa Funeral Home, Ashville.
