David J. Chverchko, 87, of Ashville, died May 12, 2023, at UPMC Altoona. Born September 25, 1935, in Patton, son of the late John P. and Veronica A. (Sholtis) Chverchko. Preceded in death by these sisters and brother; Doris McCafferty, James, Helen Trautman, Jane Chverchko, and infant sister Catherine. Survived by wife of 62 years, the former Mary Olive Hollen, whom he married May 6, 1961, in Chest Springs, children; Mary Anne (Dean) Helsel, Ruth Toohey (Barry), John (Elizabeth) Chverchko, Warren (Maria) Chverchko, Daniel (Catherine) Chverchko, Doris (Rick) Marczak, Lucy Chverchko, Diane (Richie) Johnson, David C. (Jennifer) Chverchko, Jennifer (Darren) Smouse, Sharon Chverchko (Barb), Sandra Chverchko, and Matthew Chverchko, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers and sister; Fred Chverchko, Joanne Knight, Tom (Maurita) Chverchko, Bob (Beverly) Chverchko, Janet Chverchko, Theresa (Leo) Waksmonski, and Richard (Roberta) Chverchko, sister in law, Maureen Chverchko, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed playing cinch, and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal St. Monica Cemetery, Chest Springs. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Wednesday.
