David J. “Bucky” Hofer, 72, Patton, died February 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 21, 1949 in Altoona, son of the late Edward and Jean (Gibbons) Hofer. Preceded in death by infant son, Shawn, and grandson, Cody Hofer. Survived by wife of almost 51 years, the former Debra Zimmerman, whom he married February 20, 1971 in Colver, daughters; Vicki Farabaugh, Denise Hofer (the late Eric Huber), Melissa Cordek (Special friends, Tom, Danyel and Levi Wareham), grandchildren; Deric Huber(Ashley Veneskey), Tyler (Abby) Huber, Troy (Cheyanne) Farabaugh, and Connor Slebodnick , great grandchildren; Dahlyn, Ryder, Ari, Dax, Layla, and Knox, brothers and sisters; Charlotte (David) Weber, Sharon (Walter) Hawbaker, Michael (Cindy) Hofer, Walter Hofer, and Donna Ferrance (Mike), numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and Bucky’s caregivers; Tammy Coke, Sam McDaniels, Janell Bailey, Carol Weymer, and Michelle Burkey. Bucky was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the Seabee’s and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia and Vietnam Campaign with Device. He owned and operated Hofer’s Auto Body, Patton for 30 years and retired in 2010. Bucky enjoyed cars, motorcycles, bike rally’s, going to LaJose Hotel on Sundays, camping, his cat Gracie and his dog Teenie.
