Charles E. “Charlie” Hollen Jr., 91, Ashville, died February 11, 2021. Born September 22, 1929 in Ashville, son of the late Charles Ernest Sr. and Mary Olive (Miller) Hollen. Preceded in death by grandson, Adam Jeffrey Hollen, sisters; Agnes Wyland, Rita Adams, and Ella Dietrick, infant brother Robert, and brother, Joseph. Survived by wife of 66 years, the former Elizabeth Haddon, whom he married February 12, 1955 in Summerhill, children; Pamela (Dennis) Sabo, Jeffrey (Tammy Beiswenger), Scott (Janice Thomas), and Dorothy (Paul) Kenner, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sisters; Mildred Boldizar, Grace Miller, Ethel Audi, Viola Mazur, Mary Olive (Dave) Chverchko, and Sister Ruth OSM, sister in law, Diane (Westhafer) Hollen and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed farming, bowling, hunting, and playing cards. He retired from Conrail in 1991 after 34 years service. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. Charlie was a founding member of the Loretto Volunteer Fire Company, he was a member of the Loretto American Legion, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, and the Buckhorn Bible Church, where a private memorial service will be held at a later date, Rev. Carl Wolfe, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company or the Buckhorn Bible Church in Charlie’s memory.
