Brian P. O’Donnell Sr.,70, of Ashville, died February 17, 2024, at UPMC Altoona. He was born February 20, 1953, in Altoona, son of the late Bill and Ruth (Baker) O’Donnell. Preceded in death by his first Wife, the former Linda McConnell in 1995, granddaughter, Cadence McMullen, and brother-in-law, Barry Surma. Survived by wife, the former Tracy Thomas, whom he married September 1, 2007, in Loretto, children: Brian Jr. (Emily Holtz), and Laura O’Donnell (Andrew McMullen), 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, siblings: Randy (Denise), Bevin (Ronnie) Cindy Eckenrode, Doug (Mary Ann), and Ruanne Surma (Jerry). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Brian served with the Seabees in the US Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, his dogs and feeding his chickens. He had worked as a corrections officer for SCI, Cresson and retired from SCI Pine Grove as a security captain in 2016 after 30 years of service. Life member of the Loretto American Legion, and member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held.
