Alene Smithmyer, 86, of Ashville, died July 28, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born December 5, 1935 in Carrolltown, daughter of the late Elmer and Annie ((Anna) Miller. Preceded in death by infant twin sons, Joseph and John, daughter, Carrie Wall, and these brothers and sisters; Clarence, James, Hilda Williams, Dorothy Himes, Laverne Ives, Cyril, Harold “Hark”, John, Lloyd, Wilfred “Will”, and Thomas. Survived by husband of 67 years, Earl “Sonny” whom she married August 13, 1955 in Ashville, children; Bill (Cathy Adams), Lori Clauto, Randy (Michelle Clements), and Jim (Brenda McMullen), 11 grandchildren; Christopher, Jason (Andrea), Adam (Stefani), Nickolas (Sara), Justin (Bethany), Keith (Ashley), Jeff, Benjamin, Jalynn (Cory), Sara, and Bryce (Bella), 8 great grandchildren; Haley, Avonelle, Brody, Zander, Isaac, Emmett, Cara, and Brynlee, brothers and sisters; David, Patricia, and Gary (Patty Chverchko), sisters in law; Delores Miller and Betty Ann Miller. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Alene enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, cooking, gardening and playing cards. She had worked as a secretary for Smithmyer Plumbing and Heating for 25 years. Alene volunteered for the Clearfield Creek Watershed Association and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Ashville for many years. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Ashville where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Monday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Monica Cemetery, Chest Springs. Friends will be received from 2 till 4 and 6 till 8 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday.
