Adam P. “Sonny” Lee, 95, Loretto, died September 19, 2021. Born December 1, 1925 in Lilly, son of the late Samuel and Anna (Ott) Lee . Preceded in death by wife, the former Margaret Knopp on November 29, 2014, daughter Mary Motchenbaugh on March 26, 2009, son in law, Walter Butkovich, and these brothers and sisters: Thelma Brown, Betty Belles, Dorothy Roush, Florence Ondesko, Catherine Mullen, James Sr., Norman Sr., Melvin Sr., and Nancy Wood. Survived by children; Patrick (Rosemarie) of Munster, Barbara (James) Lego of Lilly, Linda Butkovich of Verona, Virginia (William) Helsel of Hollidaysburg, Karl (Susan) of Loretto, Theresa (Arnold) Harvey of Gaithersburg, MD, Joyce Lee of Derwood, MD, Ronald (Audrey) of Loretto, and Paul (Melissa) of Hedgesville, WV, son in law, Thomas Motchenbaugh of Hollidaysburg, 34 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Bernard (Beverly), Ruth Behe, Marian (John) Dorsch, Regis (Dotsie), and Shirley (George) Noel, brother in law, Lou Brown, sister in law, Franny Lee, and numerous nieces and nephews. Adam was an Army Veteran of  WWll and served in the 69th Infantry Division and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars. He enjoyed farming and playing cards. Member of the Loretto American Legion, Munster Grange, 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Loretto Council, and a 4th degree member of the Prince Gallitzin Assembly. Adam was awarded the Prince Gallitzin Cross and served as the head usher at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery, Loretto. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Thursday evening. Military Rites in charge of Loretto American Legion and other Local Military Organizations.
