My dear sweet Eckenrode family, I am so sorry for your loss. My dear Eckenrode brothers,
and my second mom, Elaine, Gene was someone I knew my entire life and I cannot think of anything but positive things to say about him. What a loss. Please know I am praying for you for comfort and I know you are feeling pain of course but please keep your heartfelt blessings and memories close as you can as I am sure he would want that. I love you all and will pray for you. Hugs and love and heartfelt sympathy.

The Mayor is one of the most intelligent men that I have ever known. His memory of past events was phenomenal. I will surely miss him, but will never forget him. My relationship with the family will remain steadfast throughout the future. Even though I am only at the Eckenrode home on the weekends, I am here for everyone if needed, not just Ronnie, more popularly known as "Mouse." My sympathy is extended to the entire family.

To Elaine, all the kids and all the brothers and sisters of Gene. I felt like another sister growing up with all the Eckenrodes. Doris and I split most of our time at each others house and being close in age Gene was one of my favorites. He treated me so much like family for many, many years and Ben and I named our second son "Geno" after him. My sons loved him like an uncle more so than their dad's cousin. My heart and prayers are with everyone of you. Chest Springs has not only lost a great mayor but one of the best guys I have had the privilege of knowing. Have comfort in the fact your husband, father, and brother was loved by so many for so long.
