Gerald H. “Sonny” Grove 74, Cresson, died September 18, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. Born April 23, 1944 in Altoona, son of the late Joseph Ralph and Ellen (Grimes) Grove. Preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Tom, George and David, sisters, Marian Hershel, Dorothy Schenk and twin sister, Geraldine Grove on June 6, 2018. Survived by wife of 42 years, the former Tracy Morrison whom he married May 27, 1976 in Stafford, VA, and these brothers and sisters: Adelaide Beldin, Robert (Anita), Agnes (Mike) Lidwell, Florence (James) Boes, Rose Karabinos, Eleanor Hinzman, Edna Lavick, Edward (Patty), and Daniel (Janet). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Sonny was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and worked for Cresson Steel Company for 34 years and retired in 2006. Member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Saturday, Rev. Matthew Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Coupon. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613. Military Rites in charge of Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Cambria Alliance EMS, 725 2nd St., Cresson, PA 16630 in Sonny’s memory.
