Leo Gionfriddo 81, Dysart, died August 22, 2017 at UPMC Altoona. Born March 24, 1936 in Dysart, son of the late Paul Sr. and Rose (Rometto) Gionfriddo. Preceded in death by daughters, Lori Gionfriddo, Rose Christy and Denise Halerz, grandson, Mark Eger, daughter in law, Roxanne Gionfriddo, brothers: John, Joseph, Paul Jr., Carmen, James, and Al, and sisters: Josephine “Dolly” Tutko, Mary DeMark, Betty Tutko and Carmella Gionfriddo.  Survived by wife of 49 years, the former Floretta “Flo” Bruce whom he married November 17, 1967 in Virginia, son, David of Dysart, 3 grandchildren: Jennifer (Gary) Hartman, Travis Gionfriddo and Amanda Bruce, 2 great granddaughters: Adabelle and Delilah Gionfriddo. Sister, Joan (Edmund) Rupnick of Folsom and sister in law, Sue Gionfriddo in California, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Leo enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, he was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and in his younger days he enjoyed playing and coaching softball for the Ashville VFW. He worked as a miner operator for Beth Energy Mine 33, Ebensburg for over 20 years and was a member of the UMWA. Former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville. Friends will be received from 2 until time of funeral service at 6 PM Friday at the gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, Rev. Robert Reese officiating.
