Terrence E. Johnston 87, a resident of John Paul ll Manor, Cresson, formerly of Dean, died June 6, 2015 at UPMC Altoona. Born July 6, 1927 in Philipsburg, son of the late Edward and Twila (Bigleman) Johnston. Preceded in death by wife, the former Carol Ann Flaro on April 15, 2011, infant daughters: Joy and Josephine, and these  sisters and brother: Sister Mary Paulita Johnston CSR, Patricia Litzinger, Ruth Collier and Philip. Survived by children:

Mary McCloskey                                Gallitzin

Ann  Maria                                          Nanty Glo

     9  Grandchildren            5 Great grandchildren      and 1 great granddaughter to be born in September.

Sister in law: Doris (Lauer) Johnston      Ashville

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Terry owned and operated the Stella Maris Coal Mine in Dean for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, bee keeping and was a graftsman.  In 1950 he joined the Trappist  Monestary in Kentucky and served as a Lay Brother at the Abbey of Gethsemani and his religious name became Brother Dismas. He was and E.M.T. and a blacksmith. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until time of funeral Mass at 3:00 PM Tuesday at John Paul ll Manor Chapel, Cresson, Rev. Msgr. Arnold Gaus, Celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Coupon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Mass Offerings.  Arrangements in charge of Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613.
