Rev. J. Clark George 83, a resident of Dmitri Manor, Hollidaysburg, died June 3, 2014 at Dmitri Manor. Born December 19, 1930 in Newry, son of the late Thomas A. and Ann E. (Clark) George. Preceded in death by these brothers and sisters: Gertrude Sell, Madeline Campbell, Sherman, Patrick, Alma Tomlinson, Jean Riley, twins: Martha and Mary Segrist, Ruth, and Ronald. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Father Clark earned a B. A. Degree at St. Vincent College, Latrobe and entered St. Vincent Seminary. He was ordained a Catholic Priest at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona by Bishop Guilfoyle on May 26, 1956. He worked as an instructor at Johnstown Catholic High School from 1956 to 1957, Chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown from 1959 until 1962, Assistant Principle at Bishop McCort High School Johnstown from 1962 until 1963 and became Principle from 1963 until 1967. He served as Pastor for Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Meyersdale from 1967 until 1984 and Pastor for St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs from 1984 until he retired in 1996. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, Bishop Mark Bartchak, Celebrant.  Committal, St. Monica Cemetery, Chest Springs. A private family viewing will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Jude’s Hospital or St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs in Father Clark’s memory. So sorry to hear about his death. He married my husband & I in 1972, in Meyersdale, PA. He also baptized by two children. God rest his soul.

I pray for Father George's soul and for the comfort of his family and friends. He was our high school principal for my first two years at Bishop McCort. We loved him very much and I know he was a very good priest.
