Mary Riner Obituary

Mary Jo Riner, 59, of Dysart, died March 2, 2024, at UPMC Altoona surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 9, 1964 in Johnstown, daughter of Ralph and Irene (Smith) Becker. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Erin Alexis on July 14, 1998, and mother in 2020. Survived by father of New Germany; her husband of 34 years, David Riner, whom she married August 26,1989, in Ebensburg; children: Megan Riner, Elizabeth (Cory) Yeager, Adam (Kaylyn Hines), and Scott, 6 grandchildren: Bryce, Tanner, Josie, Nora, Finn, and Jack, sister of: Ted (Faye), Rick, Ray (Sharon), Colleen (Paul) Driscoll, Rosanne (Rick) Keiper, Matt, John (Denise) and Dan. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Jo enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crafts, and socializing with friends. She received a degree in accounting from IUP. She had worked at the Patton Library and St. Francis University Library and retired in 2021. Member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a Local Library in Mary Jo’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
