Barbara Dick, 84, of Altoona, formerly of Coalport, died March 13, 2024, at UPMC Altoona. She was born July 25, 1939, in Fallentimber, daughter of the late William and Ruth (Simmons) Shomo. Preceded in death by husband, Lawrence Sr. on May 18, 1995, son-in-law Scott Gallaher, daughter-in-law Luanne Dick, grandson, Mark Brodie, and brothers: William, Patrick, Jack, Glenn Sr., and Dale. Survived by children: Margaret (Raymond) Massini of Altoona, Lawrence Jr. of Hyde, Joseph (Mary Kay Grimes) of Lyleville, Shirley Gallaher (Ted) of Irvona, and Theresa (Mark) Brodie of Trafford, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters: Sandy (Dan) McAuley of Derby NY, Gail Potter of Coalport, and Karen (Mike) Vanish of Lucinda. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and very special friends Christine and Brad. Barb enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, cooking, and traveling. She had worked at Beth Energy Mines 33 in Ebensburg and Mine 32 in Revloc. Member of the UMWA and former member of St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport. Friends will be received from 10AM until 4 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St. Coalport, PA 16627. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, Rev.
