William (Bill) D. Nixon, 66, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Coupon, left this world June 3, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. Born August 3, 1953 in Altoona, he was the son of the late William J. and Shirley E. (Herlt) Nixon, and was preceded in death by infant brother, Albert J., and sister, Peggy A. (Nixon) Downey of St. Amant, LA. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Robin C. (Lenning),  daughters; Chris A. (Bryan) Heberlig of Shippensburg, Billie J. Nixon of Womelsdorf, and Amy S. Nixon (Heather Glunt) of Altoona,  and granddaughter, Shelby D. Heberlig, sister, Jeannie K. (Jon) Swan of Ashville, and two brothers, Frank J. Nixon of Duncansville and Robert J. Nixon of Saxton, and brother in law, Bill Downey of Saint Amant, LA. Bill is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bill loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, hunting, traveling on motorcycles and spent time building muzzle loaders. He retired in 2000 as a conductor for Conrail/Norfolk Southern railroad. Bill was a member of the Freemason Lodge # 220 of Hollidaysburg where he served as Master mason and was also a Shriner and member of the Jaffa Shrine Patrol Unit. He served as past president of the Gallitzin Sportsmen’s Club and was a member of the trap shooting team. He was known and loved for playing musical instruments, practical jokes, his love of candy, fart machines and making others laugh.   At Bill’s request there will be no viewing. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Masonic Service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
