Stephen A. Yahner 76, Patton died June 13, 2017 at home. Born March 22, 1941 in Patton, son of the late Paul J. and Rosemarie (Farabaugh) Yahner. Preceded in death by infant son, Benjamin, brothers: Pat and Tom, and his beloved dog, Marissa. Survived by wife, the former Sharon (Kosicki) Adams whom he married September 21, 2013 in Patton. Children: Daniel of Loretto, Lisa of Butler, Judi Thomas (Scott) of Williamsburg, VA, Lt. Col. Stephen (Jennifer Castro) of Los Alamitos, CA, Sherri Platt (Michael) of Carrolltown and Jennifer Cramer of Frederick, MD. 12 grandchildren: Alison Yahner, Kevin and Amy Nelen, Jarin, and Josh, Zupon, Curtis Price, Shane Thomas, Patrick Yahner, Cassidy and Jordyn Platt, and Madeline and Andrew Cramer. A great granddaughter, Maya Sigo. Brothers and sisters: Rose Marie Lansberry Miller, John (Mary), Gerald (Rita), Mary Ann Gill (Edward), Catherine Pico, Leo (Sigrid) Eileen Smithmyer (John), Joseph (Elaine), Lucinda Bayer (Roger) and Virginia Wineland (George). Sister in law, Linda Yahner, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends: Joe and Aimee Kolasa, Dan Albright, John Saltsgiver, Eric Stoltz and Paul Ropp. Steve enjoyed antique tractors. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Bender Coal Company for 20 years and was a self-employed excavator for many years. Former Patton Boro Council member, he was a farm safety instructor, and member of Cambria County Farm Bureau. Member of Allegheny Mountain Power Club and Patton Slovak Club. Former member of Queen of Peace Choir, and member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday by Benedictine Priests. Committal, St. Mary’s /St. George’s Cemetery, Patton. Friends will be received from 2 to4 and 6 to 9 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Friday. In lieu of flowers, family suggest contributions be made to Queen of Peace Building Fund or Cambria Heights Highlander Foundation in Steve’s memory.

I worked with Steve for 19 years at Bender Coal. We had lots of good times together. I'm very sorry for your loss.
