Rita M. Farabaugh 93, R.D. Loretto, died February 14, 2016 at St. Benedict Manor. Born March 3, 1922 in R.D. Carrolltown, daughter of the late William and Rose (Sherry) Hite. Preceded in death by husband Dennis on April 17, 1995, sons, Paul, Henry and Sherman, and these brothers and sisters: Grace Krug, Gerald, Irvin, William, Eleanor Krug, Martha Dillon, Louise Wyland, and Jean Driskel. Survived by children:

Last member of the immediate Hite and Dennis Farabaugh family.

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Rita worked side by side with her husband for 53 years on a large dairy and potato farm. Her passion was quilting with her niece Geraldine Weakland and playing cinch with her family and friends. She was active to the age of 91 with gardening, canning, quilting, and card playing until suffering a disabling stroke. She volunteered at the Loretto Firemen breakfasts every month for many years. Member of Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Malachi Van Tassell, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery.  Friends will be received from 2 to 8 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613 where a vigil Service will be held Friday afternoon. A “Special Thanks” is given to her main caregiver for the last 14 Months, Haley Weber.
